Burn Permits

Obtain Burn Permit Online HERE

Obtaining A Burn Permit:

Burn permits may be obtained one of two ways:

  1. Stop by the Main Station and complete an application in person during Office Hours (Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm)
  2. Online at bfd.burnpermits.com, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

The burn permit fees are as follow:

  • $5.00 for a residential burn permit
  • $35.00 for a commercial permit.

The community is not required to pay a fee for a fire pit or campfire burn permit, those are free.

Bennington Fire Department will still isssue paper permits, which are available at the fire station.

Please call (402)238-2727 prior to arrival as we are not always at the station, or make an appointment by emailing us here.

Using Your Burn Permit

Anyone obtaining a burn permit is required to notify the dispatch center regarding the burn permit. The rules and instructions for online permits are located on the website as well as the burn permit.

Bennington Fire Department asks the community to exercise care and caution when enjoying a fire pit or campfire as well as when using an open air burn permit.
